Jeff de Valk – Bio

Jeff is an Ottawa-based guitarist and singer. He grew up in southern Ontario listening to his dad’s records, 8-tracks, and reel-to-reel mix tapes, and sometimes even singing in the church choir.

He started playing guitar at age 13 when he found his mother’s old dusty classical guitar in the back of a closet. He hasn’t put it down since.

He moved to Ottawa in 2008 and has been involved in many musical projects since then. He leads the Hornettes, the city’s favourite seven-piece soul outfit. He plays slide guitar in Little Bones, Ottawa’s Tragically Hip Tribute. He also performs weekly as a solo act, with his Jeff de Valk Trio, and the five-piece Jeff de Valk Band.

He also writes and performs his own original material with “Jeff & the Falcons”, whose debut album was released on June 18, 2022 on all streaming platforms.

Jeff’s musical heroes include the Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Neil Young, Aretha Franklin, Cake, Bahamas, and many more.
